April 2026 trip - what should I pre-book?

Trip is booked for April 2026! What do I absolutely need to pre-book? Accommodation? Restaurants? Activities? Coming from Canada so can't be flexible on dates.

April is quieter but definitely book your first and last night accommodation in Inverness. The Applecross Inn is also worth booking for dinner if you want a table. Everything else should be fine.

Some places up here don't open until Easter so double-check your dates. Smoo Cave boat trips might not be running yet in early April. The cave itself is always open though.

Pre-book the Bealach na Ba if you're in a larger vehicle - just kidding, but seriously check the road status. It can still be closed for snow in April. Have a Plan B via Shieldaig.

Book Cocoa Mountain in Durness into your schedule. Not a reservation, just don't miss it. Best hot chocolate in Scotland, possibly the world.
