That view of Suilven from the road into Lochinver has to be one of the most iconic views in Scotland. It just appears out of nowhere like a sugarloaf. Does anyone know the exact layby for the best angle?

There's a small layby on the A837 about 5 miles east of Lochinver. You can't miss it - there's usually someone with a camera already there! Early morning light is best when the mountain catches the first sun.

If you actually want to climb it, allow a full day. The approach from Inverkirkaig is boggy but the summit is one of the best in Scotland. The shape from the top is just as impressive as from below.

Stac Pollaidh is a similar shape and much easier to climb if you don't fancy the full Suilven expedition. The views from the top are incredible and the path has been well maintained.
