This needs saying: the NC500 passes through communities where people live and work. It's not a theme park. Please respect the locals, the land, and the environment. Some reminders below.

Don't block gates, driveways, or farm tracks. Don't leave litter. Don't do your toilet business in the open when there are public toilets nearby. These are all real problems we deal with every summer.

Support local businesses! Buy your supplies in village shops rather than supermarkets in Inverness. Eat in local restaurants. Stay at locally-owned B&Bs. The tourism money needs to stay in these communities.

Wild camping is a right in Scotland but it comes with responsibility. Carry out everything you carry in. No campfires on grass. Don't camp right next to houses. Leave your pitch cleaner than you found it.

Well said everyone. The NC500 has brought amazing economic benefits to the Highlands but it's a double-edged sword. If we all behave responsibly, it can keep working for everyone - visitors and locals alike.
